A scrappy team of 9 sits behind WLDKAT, once all working side by side in Orange County, CA, now like many of you, we’re WFH but are strangely more connected than ever. Why are we here? We're creating a different kind of beauty company that’s focused more on self-worship and less on self-obsession. Who are we? A diverse group of humans with an affinity towards skincare that’s good for you and the planet, while not taking ourselves too seriously. We love getting to know the WLDKAT community and want you to get to know us a little better—what we each do, where we come from, and what we've been excited about.
Meet Julio + Erik: The two men on our team who are lucky enough to work with 6 dynamic womxn.
Julio Zunzunegui - Executive Vice President
Where are you from? Born in Cuba, raised in Los Angeles and Riverside County, CA – presently living in Orange County, CA
What do you do at WLDKAT? I help with Corporate Admin, Business Development, Sales and Operations Support.
Coffee order? Cuban Espresso with three sugars!
What’s on your WFH (work from home) desk? More like what IS my work from home desk. Office desk, dining room table, outdoor patio bench, kitchen counter and sometimes my closet to duck out from the gardener’s loud blower.
Last lesson you learned? Integrity is vital, family is everything, don’t overanalyze personal pleasures.
Current favorite song? Revivalists – Wish I Knew You
What’s it like working in a beauty space with a gaggle of women? Love it – learning the female perspective about all things in life. I’m incredibly impressed with the complexity of women – how they balance their unique needs, family, health, pleasures, and business. How incredibly creative each of them are and how they all start to get on a cognitive rhythm that churns out beautiful creativity – my daughter is getting involved in the day to day and her doing so is becoming a rite of passage in some ways. It’s intriguing to watch women operate.
What’s your motto? “It’s All Good!” My in-laws gave me a sign that hangs over the entry to our laundry room from our garage – I look up at it as much as possible and remember to smell the roses when it is busy, smile when the time is right and take a deep breath when the going gets tough.
If you didn’t work at WLKDAT, what would you be doing? Developing multifamily housing to sell and rent. I read a book about real estate in 2001 and bought our first property. Since then, I have purchased others and learned a lot about that business. I take a lot of pride in each property and reflect on how I am lucky to be living the American Dream as a Cuban immigrant.
